Super Visa

Visit your children and grandchildren with a Super Visa

How does it all work?

A Super Visa allows you to visit your children and grandchildren for up to 2 years at a time. It is a multi-entry visa that lasts for 10 years. If you are staying for less than 6 months, you should apply for a Visitor Visa, also known as a Temporary Resident Visa

Are you Eligible?

There are certain requirements you must meet to be eligible for a Super Visa

  • You are the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • You must have a signed letter from your child or grandchild who is inviting you to Canada

    This letter must include:

    • A promise of financial support
    • A list and the number of people in their household
    • A copy of their Canadian citizenship or permanent resident document
  • Medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company that has already been paid for, has a minimum of $100,000 coverage, and is valid for a minimum of 1 year from your entry date
  • You must apply from outside Canada, either online or by paper
  • You must be admissible to Canada
  • You must take an immigration medical exam
  • Your sponsor (child or grandchild) must prove that their household meets the minimum necessary income
