LMIA-Based Work Permit

Applying for an LMIA-Based Work Permit is a 2 step process. First, your employer must submit an LMIA application and second, you can then apply for your work permit.

There are certain circumstances where an LMIA is not needed for a work permit, see LMIA-Exempt Work Permit for more information. Please note that a work permit does not give you permanent residence in Canada, but it is a great starting point for the many different immigration programs you can choose from.

Step 1

Employer: Apply for an LMIA
