Post-Graduation Work Permit

The Post-Graduation Work Permit allows students who have graduated from an eligible Canadian institution to get an Open Work Permit, allowing them to gain valuable Canadian work experience. Students who have completed their studies can work while they are waiting for a decision on their PGWP application if they meet the following requirements:

  • They are or were holders of a valid study permit at the time of their PGWP application
  • They were a full time student enrolled in a Designated Learning Institute in a post secondary training program
  • They were authorized to work off-campus without a work permit
  • They did not exceed the maximum hours of work
